NW 1776 Mauritius Team Accompanies Trade Delegation of Chinese Entrepreneurs

On the 18th and 19th of this month, the NW 1776 Mauritius team had the privilege of accompanying a trade delegation of Chinese entrepreneurs from the China Chamber of International Commerce (CCOIC) on a visit to the Mauritius Chamber of Commerce and Industry (MCCI), the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius, the Economic Development Board of Mauritius (EDB), the Mauritius China Business Council, and the Jinfei Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone. This visit aimed to deepen the economic and trade cooperation between China and Mauritius and explore new opportunities for collaboration.

During the visit on the 18th, the delegation first went to the MCCI. There, they had in-depth discussions with Dr. Drishtysingh RAMDENEE, the Secretary-General of the MCCI, Rooma PILLAY NARRAINEN, the Head of the Policy Advocacy Department, Nishta SURAJBALI, an economist, and analysts Rushaa BADALOO and Diya BUNDHOO-JAUNKY. They explored feasible projects to strengthen trade cooperation between China and Mauritius and exchanged meaningful gifts. The Chinese delegation presented “Chinese knots” and “panda” dolls, symbolizing the deep friendship between the two peoples.

Next, the delegation visited the Chinese Embassy in Mauritius. Qu Ying, the Director of the Economic and Commercial Office of the Embassy, provided detailed information on Mauritius’ economy, development, politics, culture, income levels, labor costs, business opportunities, and the business environment. This valuable information helped the delegation gain a better understanding of the Mauritian market.

In the afternoon, the delegation went to the Economic Development Board of Mauritius (EDB) and had in-depth discussions with RADHAKRISHNA NEELAYYA, the EDB’s Manager for Asia and the Middle East, and Kresh SEEBUNDHUN, the Director. They discussed trade policies and cooperative projects between China and Mauritius. The Mauritian representatives answered questions from the Chinese trade delegation, further enhancing mutual understanding of trade cooperation.

In the final stage of the visit, the delegation visited the Mauritius China Business Council and held discussions with David KOON KAM KING, the Chairman, and other representatives of Chinese businesses in Mauritius. They explored opportunities and challenges in trade activities between China and Mauritius, bridging communication and cooperation between businesses of both sides and promoting the development of China-Mauritius trade.

On the 19th, the delegation concluded their visit with a tour of the Jinfei Economic and Trade Cooperation Zone. Liu Xin, the Deputy General Manager of the zone, presented the development status of the zone and successful investment cases by Chinese companies in Mauritius. These cases not only showcased the investment potential of Chinese companies in Mauritius but also provided practical references and insights for further enhancing bilateral economic and trade cooperation.

Overall, this visit facilitated extensive dialogues and exchanges between the Chinese trade delegation and senior officials from relevant institutions and businesses in Mauritius. It not only deepened mutual understanding but also laid a solid foundation for future trade cooperation. In the current global economic environment, such exchanges are particularly important as they not only promote economic cooperation between China and Mauritius but also open up new avenues for deepening bilateral relations.

The exchange and cooperation achieved by the Chinese trade delegation during this visit will not only strengthen trade connections between China and Mauritius but also attract more attention from Chinese companies to enter the Mauritian market. Additionally, as Mauritius is an important economic hub in Africa and the Indian Ocean region, it holds strategic significance for the expansion of Chinese companies in this region. The cooperation between the two sides is expected to encompass various areas, including but not limited to trade, investment, technology exchange, and cultural collaboration.

Against the backdrop of this visit, the NW 1776 Mauritius team, as the host, not only showcased the hospitality and open business environment of Mauritius but also demonstrated their capabilities and potential as a bridge connecting China and Mauritius in economic and trade matters. We look forward to more similar exchange activities in the future, further promoting friendly relations and economic cooperation between the two countries.

The fruitful outcomes of this visit indicate that the cooperation between China and Mauritius in the field of trade will reach new heights, bringing more opportunities and challenges for both sides. We will continue to monitor the progress of cooperation between the two sides and look forward to witnessing the realization of more achievements in the future.
